Pamela M. Kapsimalis ’79 P ’15

When Pam Kapsimalis ’79 P ’15 became part of the Kent Place community, she was in the fifth grade and couldn’t realize the significant role KPS would play in her life. Pam is not only an alumna — she’s also an Emeritus Trustee, a former member of the Alumnae Board, and the mother of Christina Parsells ’15. Over the years, Pam has volunteered in a number of meaningful ways. Whether serving on a career panel, sharing her expertise in the field of law, attending KPS events, or recently joining Kent Place’s Heritage Society, Pam is always happy to support her alma mater and is dedicated to empowering girls to advance the world.

Pam says many pivotal moments of her life occurred while she was a student: “I had Miss Moulding for English, who was a legend and one of the reasons I became an English major in college. I was involved in student government . . . little did I know I was going to be an attorney. I loved holding the gavel! There were 54 women in my class, and all of us had the opportunity to be a leader, whether it was in a sport or in the arts, and that stayed with me. I’ve also maintained my friendships from KPS, and my best friend to this day is from Kent Place.”

Pam says KPS was an “incredible journey” for her daughter. A talented golfer, Pam says, Christina was able to “combine the academic and the athletic components and just thrive.” Upon graduation, Christina was on the varsity women’s golf team at Georgetown University. She's now a social media and content strategy consultant for multiple golf retail brands, including Renwick and Tremont, and previously worked in social media for the United States Golf Association and Golf Digest. Pam says she hopes Christina will also find her own ways to give back to their beloved Kent Place. In 2022, after decades of connection to and involvement with KPS, Pam decided she wanted to create a legacy gift and include her alma mater in her estate plans. Aside from her children (and her dog), she says, Kent Place is her number one priority, and would like her gift to help further the school’s endowment and athletics programs. As an attorney, Pam has done work on the legal side of estate planning, and thinks it’s important for everyone to create a solid vision for their legacy, which includes allocating funds for their favorite charities. To fellow alumnae considering their own estate plans, she says, “I want to encourage people to think when they walk out of the doors of Kent Place that it doesn’t end there.” The connection to KPS can last a lifetime.

Pam’s inspiration for her gift is twofold: to support the school she loves and to honor Christina and their family’s history with Kent Place. Pam was a Trustee when her daughter was a senior, and she was able to present Christina with her diploma at Commencement: “The most meaningful experience of my whole life, other than giving birth to my children, was giving the diploma to Christina,” she says. The emotional occasion of her daughter’s Kent Place graduation and seemingly simple but important experiences such as holding the gavel in student government and learning from an inspiring English teacher make Pam’s legacy gift more than a donation: It’s a tribute to a lifetime of Kent Place moments that she has cherished throughout the years.
