Creating a Legacy
The connection between Kathy (Tuttle) Shepperly '79 P '11 and Kent Place didn't end with her Commencement. She and her husband, David, enrolled their daughter, Paige, in KPS so she could enjoy what two previous generations of Tuttle women had in the way of an outstanding education. And Kathy has been an active member of the community for 40 years.
"I give to Kent Place because it had a pivotal impact on my becoming a confident, well-rounded young woman willing to take risks outside my comfort zone," says Kathy. "No one ever told me I couldn't do something I set my mind on. Kent Place gave me the courage to set my goals high and advocate for myself. I wanted nothing more than to go to KPS, which is where my mother [Barbara (Haeberle) Tuttle '53] went to school. And later, when my own family moved from Missouri to New Jersey, I knew immediately that I wanted my daughter to benefit from the same educational experience."
In addition to supporting the Kent Place Fund, Kathy has decided to give back in a special way: by establishing a bequest with her alma mater as a beneficiary. "It's very important to me to help keep girls education thriving in this sometimes uncertain world," she says, "which is why I've included Kent Place in my estate plans."
A bequest is a simple but meaningful way to make a contribution to KPS for the future, from creating opportunities for qualified students to attend Kent Place, to helping attract and retain talented and dedicated faculty, to strengthening academic, arts, and athletic programs.
We thank Kathy Shepperly and all the other members of the Heritage Society for leaving a legacy for Kent Place.
